Moving to the rear, the Punch EV maintains similarities with the ICE version of the SUV. Notable features include Y-shaped LED taillights, a rear wiper with a washer, a high-mounted stop lamp, a shark-fin antenna, and a redesigned rear bumper with silver elements.

Interiors: Clear Glimpse

The interior of the Punch EV has been recently revealed as units arrive at Tatas EV-focused dealerships. This marks a significant departure from the interiors of the ICE model, representing a considerable leap in terms of aesthetics, appeal, and technology.

Notably, there is substantial parts sharing with its larger and pricier counterpart, the Nexon EV, which was recently introduced. The Punch EV observed at the dealership, seemingly in the top-spec Empowered+ trim, features the same 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster offered by Tata in models like Nexon, Nexon EV, Harrier, and Safari.

The Punch EV is expected to feature a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, along with Tata's Arcade.ev app suite. The interior upgrades include a new 2-spoke steering wheel, a center console with touch and toggle design HVAC controls, offering a significant improvement over the Punch ICE variant. Notably, Punch EV comes with rear disc brakes, distinguishing it from the Harrier. Tata is offering battery choices for the Punch EV and Punch EV LR, delivering an electrifying performance. The sunroof is now optional, catering to individual preferences.

Tata Punch EV: Battery And Range

Although specific details are still not out, we have some info with us. The electric Punch, available in Standard and Long Range variants, is set to feature 25kWh and 35kWh battery packs, respectively. The Standard variant includes a 3.3kW AC charger, while the Long Range variant adds a 7.2kW AC charger with DC fast charging support. Utilizing the new acti.ev modular platform, the Punch EV is expected to deliver a range of 300-600km, depending on the model and battery configuration. However, an estimated range of 300-400km is envisioned.

This EV is anticipated to hit the market with an expected starting price of Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be s a direct rival to the Citroen eC3, it also offers a premium alternative to the MG Comet EV and Tata Tiago EV within the electric vehicle segment.

Verdict

While the electric Punch is all set to debut on January 17, the eyes are all awaiting the price reveal. Expected to lie in the ballpark of Rs. 12 lakhs ex-showroom, it is bound to distrupt the small EV car space. However, with its aggressive pricing, it would be standing up as an upgrade to its own brand product, the Tiago EV, as a more premium options.
