Tata Punch Now No Longer Gets Idle Start/Stop In All Variants
  • Tata Punch rivals Maruti Ignis and the upcoming Hyundai Casper
  • It is priced from Rs 5.93 lakh to Rs 9.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi
  • It is the safest mini SUV in the Indian market

One of the safest mini SUVs out there in the Indian market, Tata Punch caters to the needs of every type of buyer. It offers a decent number of features, a new-age design and a three-pot motor that can easily take you from point A to point B. Now, ahead of its popularity in the Indian market, Tata Motors has rejigged some of the features offered in the Punch.

Tata now no longer offers an idle start/stop function across all Punch variants. Earlier, it was available in the base trim too, however, this feature now limits itself to the top-spec, Accomplishment and Creative variants. Other than this, the rest of the features remain unchanged.

Tata Punch

Under the hood, Tata Punch is offered with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor. This engine puts out 84 bhp of power with a peak torque of 113 Nm. It gets mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard and gets AMT as an option. The ARAI-certified fuel economy for the same sticks to 18.9 kmpl for the MT and 18.8 kmpl for the AMT.

Feature-wise, Punch gets a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, steering-mounted controls, automatic climate control, power folding ORVMs, halogen projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights and more.

Safety equipment on the Punch includes dual airbags at the front, reverse parking sensors, a high-speed alert system, front seat-belt reminder, ABS with EBD and more. The AMT version of the Punch also gets traction control. Furthermore, Punch has scored 5 stars at the Global NCAP crash test rating.

Verdict

With the rising popularity of the Punch, the deletion of a feature is expected from a car manufacturer. Now, if you're someone who wants an idle start/stop in your car and to save more fuel when you're at a stop light then you can get the top-spec variant of the Punch.
