Vinfast VF6 Interiors And Range Details

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is gearing up for its official entry into the Indian market, with operations at its new facility expected to commence soon. The company plans to launch two new models in India this year, and one of them, the VinFast VF6 electric SUV, has been frequently spotted undergoing tests across the country. The latest sighting of the VF6 Plus model, finished in a striking white shade with black wheels, provided a glimpse of its interior. The charging port for the SUV is conveniently located on the front fender. Notably, the test mule featured a right-hand-drive configuration, confirming its readiness for the Indian market.

Another thing that catches the attention is the interior shots that reveal how the cabin space is going to look for the driver, and it carries a dark, all-black theme, something that buyers sometimes go for in the aftermarket. It gets a three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, likely for the media and other functions. The most prominent feature is a large, floating-type touchscreen infotainment system distinctly tilted towards the driver, suggesting an emphasis on driver ergonomics and accessibility.

Below the AC vents on the centre console, a series of controls are visible. A floating-type centre console houses two cup holders and what appears to be a rotary knob serving as the drive selector, positioned conveniently next to the hazard lamp switch. Interestingly, there is no traditional instrument cluster; instead, information is relayed through a head-up display (HUD) setup on the dashboard. The expansive touchscreen infotainment system is expected to display all necessary driver information, with a glimpse of the range and other crucial details visible in the test mule's images.

Range And Battery Details

While VinFast hasn't officially confirmed the detailed specifications for the India-spec VF6 Plus, based on the images, it looks like the one on test is the VF6 Plus variant. Both the Eco and Plus variants of the VinFast VF6 are expected to feature a 59.6 kWh battery pack and utilize a Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) system. While both variants use the same battey pack option, the Eco trim is tuned for lower power and torque figures, resulting in a better range on paper. Based on the international specsheet, it looks something like this:

Variant | Battery Capacity | Drivetrain | Power | Torque | Expected Range |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Eco | 59.6 kWh | FWD | 176 PS | 250 Nm | 399 km |
Plus | 59.6 kWh | FWD | 203 PS | 310 Nm | 381 km |
The launch is expected around the festive season this year where it will take on the likes of MG Windsor EV, Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, and others. For the pricing, it could be priced at s atrting price point under Rs 30 lakhs to have a better fighting chance in these market conditions.
Verdict
The electric vehicle sales are now picking up in the country where the rivals like the MG ZS EV, MG Windsor EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and others will make it tougher for a new player to set foot in the space. Although the package of the VF6 seems quite promising to say the least, it will ultimately boil down to the pricing, if it can reall nail that one.
