The India-bound Volkswagen Tayron has aced the EURO NCAP crash tests, securing a full 5-star safety rating. For the German manufacturer preparing to launch this SUV in India, the impressive score sets the perfect stage. Breaking down the numbers, the Tayron received 87% for adult occupant protection and 85% for child occupants. It also scored 83% for vulnerable road users and 85% in the safety assist category. The tested model came equipped with a ton of safety features, including multiple airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seatbelt pretensioners, autonomous emergency braking, lane change assist, and more.
What To Expect

Volkswagen is likely to offer the Tayron in India with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Internationally, Tayron offers three powertrain options: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol unit, and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit. Meanwhile, all three units come paired with a 7-speed DCT only.

Moreover, it is expected to be loaded with a ton of features similar to its younger sibling Tiguan R Line. Some of the prominent features include a 15-inch floating infotainment, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, along with a 3-spoke steering wheel. Most importantly, one of the differences is the 3-row seating with Tayron. For safety, it might offer nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and Level 2 ADAS features.
