Volvo EX90

Volvo EX90 has a 111 kWh battery pack which is paired with twin motors, making this SUV an AWD car. Then, there are two variants: standard and performance. The biggest new point is the change to 800V architecture from 400V, which improves the car's acceleration along with its ability to utilise power with better efficiency, and also allows Volvo to use fewer parts, which eventually brings down the total weight of this EV.

Other updates have been made to the in-house battery management system, which further enhances fast-charging capabilities. With just 10 minutes of charging, the car can gain up to 250 km of range. In addition, Volvo has replaced the Nvidia Xavier chip with new dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin chips- super-fast processors capable of handling 500 trillion operations per second.

Moreover, the 2026 Volvo EX90 will come with additional safety features such as alerts for driving conditions, road hazards, and accidents. It will also include automatic emergency steering and Park Pilot Assist. Lastly, Volvo has integrated an automatic e-call feature with Emergency Stop Assist (ESA), which allows the car to slow down and safely park itself on the side of the road if the driver becomes unresponsive. Think of it as a pro-max version of the driver drowsiness alert system.
Now, this electric SUV from Volvo starts at $81,290 globally, and there are variants to choose from. In our country, the EX90's starting price would be somewhere around Rs 1.3 crore and it will have only one direct rival, which is the Kia EV9 - but that costs Rs 20 lakh more.

Verdict
This SUV is set to be Volvo's new electric flagship and is expected to launch by the end of this year. Internationally, it comes with a 6- or 7-seat configuration, but in India, there's a high chance that only the 7-seater version will be offered. The front angle looks quite macho, and the Thor-shaped LED lights make a strong impression. However, the rear section is very similar to other electric Volvos, which could be a weak point as it doesn't appear as tastefully designed.
