The Innova Crysta is very popular and also one of the best-selling MPVs in India with over 8.80 lakh units sold till date. Talking about its history, so the first-generation Innova was launched in India in the year 2005 and the second-gen model was introduced in 2016. A few weeks ago, the company officially revealed the new Innova Crysta Facelift in Indonesia and now it has been finally launched in India. So, in this article, we will be comparing the new 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta Facelift vs the Old BS6 Innova Crysta to know what all has changed in the new model and also their variant-wise prices.

2021 Toyota Innova Crysta Facelift vs Old BS6 Innova Crysta

First of all, we will begin with the price comparison. The price of the new 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta Facelift BS6 starts at Rs. 16.26 lakhs and it goes all the way up to Rs. 24.33 lakhs, Ex-showroom pan-India (except Kerala). In comparison, the old BS6-compliant Innova Crysta was priced between Rs. 15.66 lakhs - Rs. 23.63 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. Thus, the new facelifted Innova Crysta demands up to 70,000 rupees more than the pre-lift model. Pre-Facelift Toyota Innova Crysta

Before we begin with the comparo, let me tell you that this is just a mid-life update and not a generation change, so most of the things remain the same as before. The new facelifted Innova Crysta gets only cosmetic changes and also some new features have been added. The mechanicals and the overall dimensions of the new Innova Crysta remain the same as the pre-lift model. Talking about dimensions, the new facelifted (as well as the pre-lift) Innova Crysta measures 4735 mm in length, 1830 mm in width and has a height of 1795 mm. The MPV sits on a wheelbase of 2750 mm and gets an impressive 193 mm ground clearance. Also, it gets a massive boot space of 300-litres (with all three-row seats up) and has a fuel tank capacity of 55 to 65-litres.

Now, talking about the aesthetic changes, the new facelifted Innova Crysta gets subtle cosmetic updates that make it look more macho than before. At the front, it gets a new bold fascia. The old dual chrome-slatted front grille has now been replaced by a bold trapezoidal piano-black grille with chrome surrounds on either side. The headlamps of the MPV have also been slightly redesigned and now it gets new daytime-running LEDs too. Then, moving down below, one can notice that it gets a revised fog lamp assembly, new sharp front bumpers with chrome accents and faux skid plates. The side profile and rear profile of the new Innova Crysta Facelift doesn't get any major changes. However, it does get new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. 

Now, coming to the interiors, one can see that it looks almost the same as before. Just like the pre-lift model, the new facelifted Innova Crysta gets an all-black theme for the interior. However, the top-spec ZX trim gets a new luxurious interior colour of Camel Tan for the upholstery. The dashboard layout of the MPV has not been revised but it does get some new features. The new facelifted Innova Crysta gets an all-new Smart Playcast 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The instrument cluster has also been revised and it now even gets front parking sensors. The new Innova Crysta Facelift will be available both as a seven-seater as well as an eight-seater MPV and it also gets a new Sparkling Black Crystal Shine colour shade for the exterior.

Old Innova Crysta

Talking about the powertrains on offer, the new Innova Crysta Facelift gets the same set of petrol and diesel engines as the pre-lift Innova Crysta BS6. It gets a BS6-compliant 2.7-litre petrol engine that churns out 164 PS of power at 5200 RPM and 245 Nm of peak torque at 4000 RPM. It also gets a BS6-compliant 2.4-litre diesel engine that churns out 148 PS of power at 3400 RPM and 360 Nm of peak torque between 1400-2600 RPM (for AT) and 343 Nm of peak torque between 1400-2800 RPM (for MT). Both the engines come mated to the same 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with sequential shift. We all know that the Toyota Innova Crysta is a very reliable car (or rather an MPV) and there are no two ways about it.
