2022 Suzuki S-Cross Crossover Teased, India-Bound?

Suzuki has given us a glimpse of what could potentially be the next-generation 2022 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. 

Suzukis Italian social media handle @SuzukiGarage has released a teaser image of a new full-LED headlamp design that looks like it belongs to a B-segment crossover. The teased image was accompanied by the statement A New Suzuki Model is Coming Soon! 14 Days Unitil the Official Premiere.  Theres a decent chance that this could be the new 2022 Suzuki S-Cross, because Suzuki had scheduled its launch in Italy this November 25, 2021. The President of Suzuki Iberica, Juan Lopez Fade has further said that that they will globally launch the S-Cross via a virtual presentation in Spain. 

What is the S-Cross all about?

The S-Cross has been in India for more than 5 years now. It has had minor updates over the years, but nothing significant. The current generation S-Cross starts from Rs 8.59 lakh to Rs. 12.56 lakh (ex-showroom price, Delhi), and it has always remained true to its crossover genes. However, the teased headlight images will loosely remind you of the Ertiga. The two-unit headlight also has is a bit more square-shaped than before. It gets three DRLs that drops right away from the bonnet. The bonnet also feels straightened, and the bumper falls aggressively below, instead of swooping down.  

Now, given that the S-Cross has been one of the hottest B-segment crossovers on sale in Spain, it was obvious for Suzuki to get the generation update. And since the S-Cross has been a mass-market product, the chances of it being introduced here in India are also high. 

What to expect from the 2022 Suzuki S- Cross?

Having had managed to establish quite the iconic stance for itself with its coupe design, the 2022 Suzuki S-Cross will also retain the same. Some of the styling elements will definitely be new, and the re-designed headlights are its first glimpse. Some of the design changes that are sure to happen are the front grille design and a new alloy wheel design. The 2022 Suzuki S-Cross will be based on the HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Ertiga. This new platform will be made of high tensile steel that will make the platform stronger and safer. 

There will also be a major update in the features list. The 2022 Suzuki S-Cross will get Advance Driver Assist System (ADAS) like autonomous emergency braking, park assist, blind-spot detection, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist.

What is the engine of the 2022 Suzuki S-Cross?

The European-spec model 2022 S-Cross will come equipped with a new mild hybrid system. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 48-volt hybrid-electric system. The Boosterjet turbocharged engine will also be available that produces 127 bhp and 235 Nm of torque. The Indian-spec 2022 S-Cross might remain mechanically similar with the same 1.5-litre petrol engine and mild-hybrid system.

Whats the Price of the 2022 Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross?

The official price tag of the 2022 Suzuki S-Cross is yet to be revealed, and the Indian-spec models price will be released then only. The current-generation S-Cross is available in four trims Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Except for the base Sigma model, all three are available with automatic transmissions. Their prices range from Rs. 8.59 lakhs to Rs. 12.36 lakhs.
