2024 KIA Sonet Details - What Will Change?

One of the best-selling compact SUVs in India, the KIA Sonet, will soon get a mid-life update. The facelift of Sonet has been spied on test globally. The new car is going to get a host of changes to it. As per the spy photos, we believe that KIA will rework its exterior design with similarities to the upcoming KIA Seltos facelift. With that said, it is expected to get new headlights, taillights, & alloy wheels. The design of these is already evident in the spy shots. Meanwhile, the front fascia and the rear end might also get refreshed with a new piano black front grille and bumper design. Adding to the LED lights, it might also get sequential LED turn indicators.

Meanwhile, its interior design is still unknown. But, we suspect that will also undergo revisions. The major improvement will be the new dashboard arrangement and new features. Also, the spy shots reveal that it'll continue using the same single-pane sunroof as the current model.

Under the bonnet, the powertrain options of it are also likely to remain unchanged. The current model is offered with 1.2-lt MPI petrol, a 1.0-lt turbo-petrol, & a 1.5-lt turbo-diesel engine options. Also, the transmission options include a 5-speed MT (petrol), 6-speed iMT (diesel), 6-speed AT (diesel), & a 7-speed DCT (petrol).

Verdict

KIA is planning to update its SUV lineup in India as well as globally. The Seltos facelift is already nearing its launch in India. Also, the upcoming KIA Carnival facelift is undergoing testing internationally. Hence, we suspect that the new Sonet will launch either by the end of 2023 or early 2024. Its direct rivals in India are - Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, & Mahindra XUV300.
