Kia Seltos Facelift

Recent spy shots of the upcoming 2026 Kia Seltos facelift reveal a fascinating detail: test mules sporting two distinctly different front fascias under their camouflage. This strongly suggests that Kia is actively developing an electric version of the Seltos, which would boast its own unique design identity, much like the Creta EV. The differences between these two front designs are quite evident, extending even to variations in alloy wheel patterns. Both vehicles were captured during testing at the same location, further solidifying the speculation of an internal combustion engine (ICE) Seltos and its electric sibling being developed concurrently.

While exterior differentiation in bumper and wheel designs is apparent, the interior of the electric Seltos is also expected to feature specific changes. This could include an EV-specific gear selector position, among other nuanced updates to create a distinct cabin experience. If these spy shots are indeed a precursor to a Seltos EV, it signifies Kia's strategic move to expand its electric portfolio with a familiar and well-received model, offering consumers a broader range of sustainable mobility options in the future. Not just this, the feature list will also be a level above the ICE variant, something that we have seen as a general trend.

Expected Powertrain And Battery Specs

Turbo Petrol Engine

Drawing parallels with the Hyundai Creta Electric, the upcoming Kia Seltos EV is anticipated to offer similar battery and motor specifications, potentially including 42 kWh or 51.4 kWh battery packs, powering a 169 bhp FWD electric motor capable of a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds and a range of up to 473 km. In addition to retaining its current ICE engine options, the 2026 Kia Seltos is also rumored to introduce a hybrid powertrain, aiming to compete directly with hybrid offerings from Maruti Suzuki and Toyota.

Verdict

The Seltos EV is a pretty good probability given the ICE to EV transition that we have seen with the Creta, but it might still be some time away from reality. The updated SUV is coming by late 2025 or ealry next year, will try to keep the dominating position in its space. But before anything else happens ,the eyes are all on the Carens EV which is slated for launch in July 2025.
