Whenever you are stuck in traffic, only one thing revolves inside your mind - Why I didn't buy an automatic car! Automatic cars are expensive than manuals and it is true, you can get an AMT equipped car in the market but the jerks during gear shits will never keep you calm and happy. For City commutes and even highway runs, CVTs (Continuous Variable Transmissions) are the best owing to the smooth operation in the city and brilliant fuel efficiency on the highways. Today we tell you the most affordable and best CVT automatic cars under Rs 10 lakhs in the Indian market.

Datsun Go and Go Plus CVT

Datsun made its debut in India with the Go and then they came up with the Go Plus. Upshift to 2019, Datsun launched the CVT variants with the Go and Go Plus. Both the cars use the same 1.2-litre petrol engine mated with a CVT box we saw in the Nissan Micra. As Nissan has no plans to update the Micra with stringent BS6 norms, we haven't bothered to include that in this list.

The engine churns out 77 PS and 104 Nm of torque with the CVT box. At this point of time, Datsun hasn't revealed the prices of the updated cars, hence we have considered the old BS4 prices. The Go CVT is available in two variants - T CVT at Rs 5.94 lakhs and T(O) CVT at 6.18 lakhs. The Go Plus CVT is also available in two variants - T CVT at Rs 6.58 lakhs and T(O) CVT at Rs 6.8 lakhs. These prices might be revised for BS6.

Honda Amaze CVT

One of the best CVT automatic cars is this - do note both Jazz and the WR-V BS6 models aren't out yet. The Amaze is the only car at this price point which offers CVT transmission with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol CVT is available in three variants - S CVT at Rs 7.71 lakhs, V CVT at Rs 8.34 lakhs and VX CVT at Rs 8.75 lakhs. The diesel CVT range is also available in three variants - S CVT at Rs 8.91 lakhs, V CVT at Rs 9.54 lakhs and VX CVT at Rs 9.95 lakhs. The Honda Amaze competes with cars like Maruti Dzire, Ford Aspire and Hyundai Aura. The Amaze is the only car in its segment to offer a CVT box, Aspire used to have a torque convertor which has been axed due to low sales.

Toyota Glanza CVT

Before you shout Baleno, let me tell you that Toyota has somehow, anyhow managed to price the Glanza lower than the Baleno which is exactly the same car. Unlike the Baleno, the Glanza is only offered in two variants - G and V which have been further divided in manual and CVT trims. As we are talking CVT here, the G CVT is priced at Rs 8.29 lakhs and the V CVT is priced at Rs 8.9 lakhs. The CVT is mated to a 1.2-litre VVT petrol motor that makes 82 BHP and 115 Nm of torque.

The Toyota Glanza shares an equal amount of features and sports the same mechanical parts as it is a Baleno at the end of the day. To cover this obnoxious relationship, Toyota offers a one-year extra warranty which means the Glanza comes with 3 years/ unlimited kilometres warranty. Hence, whatever you want to call this, the customer is the winner here!

Maruti Baleno CVT

The Maruti Baleno is the most selling car here which has been firing the sales charts for years and counting. The best-seller in the segment of the premium hatchback is Maruti Baleno also. As it only comes with petrol engine now, the CVT box is available in 3 of its variants - Delta CVT at 7.76 lakhs, Zeta CVT at 8.33 lakhs and Alpha CVT at 8.96 lakhs. The CVT here is mated to the same 1.2-litre VVT petrol motor we see in the Glanza and it makes 82 BHP and 115 Nm of torque. It is one of the best CVT cars you can buy under 10 lakhs thanks to the refined and peppy petrol engine.

So these are all the best cars with CVT automatic you can buy in the market under Rs 10 lakhs. Having said that, all the prices mentioned here are ex-showroom and are subject to change with time. We haven't included the Nissan Micra CVT as there is no confirmation from the company on its BS6 release. The Honda Jazz and WR-V are also yet to be launched, so we haven't added those either.
