Honda's domestic sales of 5,385 units in August 2026 marked a 40% jump over the 3,850 units sold in the same month last year. On the export front, however, the company shipped 2,123 units, down from 2,924 units in August 2025.

The growth on the domestic side was underpinned by robust festive-season buying starting with Onam, along with a good response to the recently updated City and the ZR-V, Honda's globally sourced SUV.

Festive Demand And New City, ZR-V Drive Growth

Honda attributed much of August's domestic momentum to the early onset of the festive season, which typically lifts footfall and bookings across the industry. Alongside seasonal demand, the New City sedan and the ZR-V SUV (imported as a CBU from Japan) found strong traction among buyers during the month, helping push overall domestic volumes sharply higher.
