Hyundai i20
This is the 17th variant in the long lineup of the i20, and it has been added to make the car more affordable for people who are planning to buy the Alto, Wagon R, Swift, or even the i10 Nios, as this car is bigger, more premium, and drives better. However, in terms of features, it has nothing special. Apart from adjustable steering, body-coloured ORVMs, USB-C ports, and manual AC, thats about it.

The i20 is also expected to receive a major update soon, as the 2026 model has already been spotted testing in India under heavy camouflage. Reports suggest that the upcoming version could feature a refreshed design with sharper styling elements and new alloy wheels to enhance its road presence. Inside, Hyundai is likely to introduce upgraded technology, including dual 10.25-inch displays and possibly Level-1 ADAS features, making it more competitive in the premium hatchback segment. However, mechanically, the car is expected to continue with the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine options, focusing mainly on design and feature upgrades rather than major powertrain changes.

Verdict
With the introduction of the Era variant, Hyundai is clearly trying to widen the i20's appeal by making the premium hatchback segment more accessible. While the variant focuses more on affordability and essential safety rather than features, it still offers the strong fundamentals the i20 is known for - space, refinement, and driving comfort. At the same time, with a major update already in testing, the i20 lineup is expected to stay fresh and competitive, making it a sensible choice for buyers who want a step above entry-level hatchbacks without moving into compact SUV territory.
