Mahindra is preparing for one of its most important electric launches yet, as the all-new Mahindra XEV 9s gears up for its grand unveiling at the Scream Electric event on November 27, 2025. While the BE 6 special edition will take the stage a day earlier, it's the XEV 9S that carries the weight of expectations, primarily because it will become India's first mass-market, fully electric seven-seater SUV. With fresh teasers dropping every few days, Mahindra has revealed enough to sketch out what is shaping up to be one of the most feature-loaded EVs under Rs. 30 lakh. Design & Positioning: A New Flagship For Mahindra's EV Push

The Mahindra XEV 9S will slot between the BE.6 and XEV 9e in Mahindra's Born Electric lineup and is based on the modular INGLO platform. Teasers reveal a clean, EV-first front fascia with stacked LED lighting and a sleek, closed-off grille, far removed from the XUV700 roots that earlier prototypes hinted at. The profile suggests generous proportions suited to genuine three-row use, making it one of the first Indian EVs to embrace traditional family SUV practicality.

One of the biggest highlights confirmed by Mahindra is the combination of a large rear boot and a usable frunk. With the third row folded flat, the XEV 9s appears to offer cargo space that rivals larger ICE SUVs, and the frunk adds a second storage zone for smaller bags, chargers, or essentials. This dual-cargo layout will give the XEV 9S an edge over even more expensive EVs sold globally.
Cabin & Features: Triple Screens, Rear Entertainment, and Boss Mode

The cabin is where the XEV 9S truly breaks new ground for Mahindra. A wide, sweeping triple-screen dashboard will house:A full digital driver's display with a large central infotainment touchscreen, a dedicated co-driver entertainment screen. In the latest teaser, all three screens stream content while the vehicle is stationary, turning the cabin into a mobile cinema. Even second-row passengers benefit from Mahindra's BYOD rear entertainment suite, integrating personal devices with the car's software.

Add the Boss Mode seat, which electrically slides the front passenger seat forward, and the middle row becomes a genuine lounge experience. Ambient lighting, ventilated and powered front seats, panoramic sunroof, memory function for the driver, and multi-zone climate control further elevate the premium feel. The audio experience is handled by a Harman Kardon premium sound system, expected to be the same 1,400W Dolby-enabled setup seen in the BE.6.

Battery, Motors & Expected Range
Mahindra hasn't confirmed the performance numbers for the XEV 9S yet, but the SUV is expected to share its battery and motor options with the XEV 9e, which means a choice between a 59 kWh pack rated for around 542 km MIDC range and a larger 79 kWh unit claiming up to 656 km MIDC. Power outputs are likely to be offered in two states of tune, 231 PS and 286 PS, both producing 380 Nm of torque. Real-world numbers may dip slightly due to the added weight and size of the seven-seat body, but Mahindra is aiming for a real-world range north of 500 km, positioning the 9S ahead of most mass-market electric SUVs currently on sale. A dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration is also on the cards, which would make the XEV 9S the most performance-focused EV Mahindra has developed so far.
The XEV 9S will make its debut on November 27, 2025, following which pricing and variant details will likely be revealed. Expect a starting price between Rs. 28- Rs. 32 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 59 kWh variant, with the bigger battery and AWD possibly pushing the top trims beyond Rs. 35 lakh.
Verdict
From everything teased so far, the Mahindra XEV 9S is shaping up to be more than just a bigger BE 6, it looks like Mahindra's attempt at building a premium electric family mover filled with clever packaging, tech-heavy interiors, and long-distance range. If Mahindra nails its pricing and charging support strategy, the XEV 9S could become the most impactful EV introduced in India's mass market yet, and redefine what buyers expect from a family electric SUV under Rs. 30 lakh.
