Maruti Jimny 5-Door SUV has been spied on completely undisguised ahead of launch. The upcoming SUV is seen shooting for the official TVC.

Maruti Jimny 5-Door is going to launch in India soon. As we reported to you earlier, it will launch on 11 January 2023. However, ahead of its launch, a completely undisguised unit has been spied on. The spied car is seen shooting for the official TVC of it at a high altitude. Read more details on it below.

Maruti Jimny 5-Door New Spy Shot Details

As seen in the photos, the upcoming model is production-ready. The car being used for TVC purposes is featuring a lime green paint shade. Mind you, it is the promotional paint shade for Jimny overseas as well. Meanwhile, by the looks of it, the 5-door version is nothing but an elongated 3-door Jimny. As expected, there are no major cosmetic changes to the LWB version. In spite, it has a longer wheelbase only but no visible changes to the width & height of the car. Additionally, the boxy and square shape of the Jimny remains persistent on the 5-door version too.

Meanwhile, the rest of the design looks largely unchanged as compared to the global model. The addition of rear passenger doors has also increased the glass area. The C-pillar is now chunky and alongside features a small quarter glass as well. Additionally, Maruti will be using the tried & tested K15B petrol engine on it. However, it is suspected to be offered with two options - manual & automatic. This 1.5-lt petrol engine makes a modest 101 bhp & 130 Nm of power & torque figures internationally. In India, this engine will remain unchanged apart from revised ECM settings.

Jimny India Launch Details

The Jimny will directly compete with Mahindra Thar 5-Door & Force Gurkha 5-Door in India. Our sources have claimed that it will launch on 11 January 2023. Furthermore, it will embark on the first day of the Indian Auto Expo 2023 as well. However, there are rumors that the Thar 5-Door might also get launched on the same day. Meanwhile, the expected pricing of Jimny hovers between Rs 9-13 lakh ex-showroom.

Verdict - The Jimny 5-Door is one of the most anticipated launches in India. The large cabin space means it will be a practical car as well. However, its rivals offer more road presence and diesel engine options too. Hence, the real fight for 4X4 SUVs is going to start soon in India.
