MG S5 To Replace MG ZS EV In India

MG is generating buzz with its upcoming electric SUV, the MGS5 EV, which is slated to take the place of the MG ZS EV in Europe and then in the Indian market at a later date. This model is known as the ES5 in its domestic Chinese market, where it is already active. In terms of size, the new SUV will be approximately 4,480mm in length, marking a 162mm increase over the current ZS EV. The initial teaser images highlight a rear design featuring an LED light bar that seamlessly connects wrap-around Y-shaped tail lights, along with an illuminated MG logo at the center. A roof spoiler and a distinct notchback-style lip above the light bar, complemented by an integrated spoiler, would make it an appealing head-tuner on the roads.

Details about its interiors and features are still under wraps and will be revealed at a later date. It will get a refreshed cabin with a modern look and new features over the current MG ZS EV. Details of the interiors will be revealed as we inch closer to the official reveal.

Specifications

While MG has remained tight-lipped regarding specific powertrain details for the MGS5 EV, it's worth noting that the MG4 model offers various configurations. There is a chance that the new MG S5 could retain the MG ZS EV's current set-up of 177PS power and 280 Nm of torque. Although international markets get a different electric motor, it remains to be seen if they toy with the idea of bringing in a more potent powertrain.

As for the battery specifications, it will be out at the full reveal of this MG ZS EV replacement later this year. However, it could offer a battery pack of 55 kWh, aiming for a range of around 500 km on a single charge. Notably, with this update, the pricing will also register an uptick, with all the bells and whistles.
