Renault Registers Arkana Hybrid SUV In India, Launch Seems Imminent

Renault India appears to be getting ready to introduce its Arkana SUV in the Indian market. An Arkana Hybrid was recently spotted on Indian roads with a private registration plate that was registered to Renault India Private Limited a month ago. The SUV is registered in Tamil Nadu where the company has its manufacturing plant. Previously, the Arkana has been spied undisguised multiple times with a temporary registration plate.

Renault Arkana Ownership Details

When it comes to the SUV's design, the Arkana has a sloping roofline that blends into the trunk, giving it a high-riding sporty coupe appearance. The Arkana is based on the B0 platform, which is also used by the Renault Duster and Captur. It sports clear LED headlights up front, as well as LED taillights with a linked LED stripe across the tailgate. It sports dual-cut blackened alloy wheels on the outside.

On the international variant, the vehicle's length is 4545 mm, and its width and height are 1820 mm and 1565 mm, respectively. On the other side, the wheelbase is 2721 mm long.

The model sighted is the 145 E-Tech Hybrid, which comes with a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors - a 36 kW e-engine and a 15 kW HSG (High-Voltage Starter Generator) - in the international variant. A 6-speed automatic transmission is paired with the engine. While no official information on the Arkana has been released in India, we expect it to be powered by the same 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Duster and Kicks as well.

In terms of speculation, everyone expected a diesel engine in the next Arkana, but the recently spotted model turns out to be a petrol hybrid. The brand has kept quiet, and this revelation has sparked suspicion that Renault may introduce a petrol hybrid powertrain to India, similar to Honda.
