Tata is redefining the Curvv with a new moniker, trying to attract customers who want the best features without stretching their budget to the max, by loading the affordable variants, Pure X and Creative X, with technologies people fall for. To elaborate further, the Pure X, the second variant in the lineup, costs Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and gets a 10.25-inch infotainment screen by HARMAN, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, a smart key with passive entry, six speakers, automatic climate control, and an all-LED light setup. That said, customers can get 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels in the Pure X+ trim.

Talking about the Creative X+, this trim, priced at Rs 12.91 lakh (ex-showroom), offers a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree parking camera with a blind-view monitor, 18-inch diamond-cut alloys, and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. The interior also gets leather upholstery, and the rear seats recline as well.

Lastly, this SUV continues to be powered by three engine options, making it a versatile choice that caters to every type of buyer. Two are petrol, and one is a diesel. The first is the 1.2L Revotron, a three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that puts out 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque, available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT.

The second engine is a performance iteration of the same setup, called the 1.2L Hyperion, making 125 PS and 225 Nm of torque. Here, the gearbox is only the 7-speed DCT, the manual option is dropped.

Lastly, there's the 1.5L diesel, called Kryojet, which puts out 117 PS and 260 Nm of torque, again offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. This makes it one of the rare mass-market cars on sale to offer a dual-clutch gearbox with a diesel engine, meaning the overall drive is geared towards delivering a smoother experience.

End Note

The Tata Curvv falls between the Nexon and the Sierra in Tata's lineup, and is essentially an extended version of the former. Launched in 2024 with aggressive marketing, the car never quite saw the kind of success other Tata models have enjoyed. A big reason for that is its coupe-style sloping roofline, which results in a fairly claustrophobic rear seat experience, something its core rivals, with their more traditional SUV shape, don't suffer from.

With this new Series X lineup, Tata is aiming to reposition the Curvv as the go-to option for buyers with a budget of around Rs 12-13 lakh, backed by a genuinely strong set of features even at the entry-level variants. This also reflects a broader trend across the industry, where manufacturers are loading up their base trims, making it easier for buyers to settle on a single, well-equipped variant instead of feeling pushed up the range. Now, let's see how much of this actually reflects in the sales numbers.
