Just recently we got to catch up on the Tata Nexon Facelift 2024 out on the road for testing. The test mule gave out some major changes that will be accompanying the next Nexon. Be it sequential turn indicators or the tweaked front and rear profile. Whatever the updates, Nexon has already cemented its place in the compact SUV market. But as we keep you posted on any new development that it will bring along, there is one thing to keep in mind at the same time.

As this Tata SUV evolves, so does its competition. The segment, as a result, morphs into a stronger beast than ever before. Let us quickly look at the key rivals that could crash the party of Tata Nexon.

Curren Gen Tata Nexon

1. Mahindra XUV300 - Top Rival Of The Tata Nexon

Mahindra XUV300

The one that is already selling in great numbers is the Mahindra XUV300. Unbothered by the sales of Tata Nexon, it enjoys equal status and sales among the masses. The new-age Tata and Mahindra cars have a new element across their portfolio superior build quality. After amassing a slew of 5-Star crash test ratings, their popularity is at an all-time high. It retails between the bracket of Rs. 8,41,500 to Rs. 14,14,000 ex-showroom, as of April 2023.

The Hyundai Venue sits below the Creta and is a full urban charmer. Its looks and features attract a lot of city commuters looking for a compact SUV for daily runs. Breaking the barriers of the segment, it sways some buyers of the top trim hatchbacks toward itself as well. Upgrading the Maruti Brezza further, Auto Expo 2023 saw the launch of a CNG Edition of this star Maruti Suzuki SUV. This is the only rival in the segment to offer a factory-fitted CNG. What works in its favor is also its revered brand name. It retails at a price range of Rs.8.29 lakh - 14.14 Lakhs ex-showroom. It puts out a power of 103 PS with a peak torque of 137 Nm, which is a decent figure.

4. KIA Sonet Rivals Tata Nexon

KIA Sonet is another contender slowly tightening its grip in this segment. While the Seltos is a great hit in the upper segment, KIA is looking to replicate its success in this segment as well. Tata Nexon, although has a continuously strong position, these rivals are quickly evolving with time as well to challenge its dominance. The price bracket of this SUV is Rs. 7.79 lahks and Rs. 14.89 lahks (ex-showroom).

5. Nissan Magnite

Nissan Magnite at its attractive starting price point of 6 lakh rupees is the most aggressive element that works in its favor. Apart from sharp looks, and a well-equipped cabin, it offers a big bang for the buck. At this price tag, it even outbids some premium hatchbacks as well. No wonder why it sells in great numbers and continues to snatch away its share of the pie.

It costs between Rs. 6.00 lakh and Rs. 10.86 lahks (ex-showroom).

VERDICT- Although Tata Nexon enjoys a strong holding in its segment, it isn't the undisputed top dog. With the likes of the Maruti Brezza, and Hyundai Venue, the battle is open and gets even more intense than before. The facelifted 2024 Tata Nexon brings new changes but will have to face the evolving competition in the market.
