Tata Sierra EV Production Version Design Details!

The Sierra EV is easily Tata's most radically different-looking car in recent times, with the Curvv and Nexon being similar, much like the Harrier and Safari, and the Tiago and Tigor. It bears a more boxier shape with a muscular stance, a clean profile and futuristic elements.

Since this is an EV, there is no grille up front. It gets a closed-off panel and the nose features the Tata logo prominently. It also gets sculpted split-headlamp treatment, with a gloss full-length strip (which could possibly be a DRL strip) running through the length of the bonnet. It also gets an air dam lower down on the front bumper, along with a chrome spoiler.

The profile is where the recall to the original Sierra is the loudest. The wraparound glass treatment has been retained, and Tata Motors has made use of clever design wizardry. The wraparound glass effect is not actually all-glass anymore, but rather it is a plastic panel.

Also, while the original Sierra was a three-door SUV, the upcoming Sierra EV features a more conventional five-door design, and it will be really interesting to check it out in the flesh. The charging port is also located conventionally on the left side of the car.

Similar to the Curvv and Curvv EV, the Sierra EV also features flush-fitting door handles. The production-spec car also seems to carry over the 20-inch alloy wheels from the concept car. However, we can expect lower variants of the Sierra EV to also come with 17 or 18-inch wheels as well.

Unfortunately, there are no pictures of the rear. However, from what we have seen on the concept car, the production-spec Sierra EV could feature a full-length strip, with tail-lamp functions just below it. The tailgate remains clean and devoid of any dramatic shapes, and a spare wheel is less likely to be mounted here. Lower down, it could also feature gloss black treatment on the bumpers, along with a chrome bumper spoiler.

New Tata Sierra EV And ICE Powertrain Details

Tata Sierra EV

Other than the fact that the new Sierra EV will be built on the new Acti.ev platform, rest of the technical details remain under wraps for now. However, similar to the Curvv EV, the Sierra EV will also likely be aiming for 500km on a single charge. The Sierra EV could also likely be powered by a dual-electric motor setup in higher trims, since the Acti.ev platform can accomodate front-wheel, rear-wheel, and all-wheel drive.

Meanwhile, the combustion-powered Sierra will likely share the new ATLAS platform with the Curvv. This platform is known to feature all-wheel drive or 4x4 capabilities, and Tata Motors could likely make a return to the 4x4 segment by equipping the Sierra with this tech. Along with the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel mill, the ICE Sierra could also be powered by the new 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine.

The Sierra EV will be launched first in 2025, with the ICE version following later. More details about the Sierra EV and ICE shall unfold in the coming few months, so stay tuned!

Verdict

The Sierra EV enjoys a lot of brand recall among buyers in the market, but it remains to be seen how much of it translates into people actually buying it when it eventually gets launched. However, with the Sierra's design, brand recall, and the fact that it will be equipped by a lot of modern features, something tells us that the Sierra's new journey ahead will be an interesting one.
