Things Missing On The Kia Seltos Facelift That Maruti Grand Vitara Offers

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Kia Seltos facelift 2023 unveiling on July 4th, 2023
  • Pre-bookings open for a token amount of Rs. 25,000
  • Check out the things it misses out on when compared to Maruti Grand Vitara/ Toyota Hyryder

Kia Seltos was always a wealthy car when it comes to features. The top-of-the-line variant of the current SUV offers a plethora of tech loadings from a sunroof to ventilated seats, wireless chargers, air purifiers, and whatnot. No owner ever complained about the lack of tech quotient and the same will be true for the Kia Seltos facelift that is slated for a July 4th, 2023 unveiling.

Even then, when compared to the Maruti Grand Vitara/ Toyota Hyryder, it misses out on some things that the latter offer. Wondering what they are? You're in the right place

1. A Hybrid Powertrain

The upcoming Seltos facelift is most likely to offer the same powertrain choices as the current model. It currently offers both a 1.5 L petrol as well as a 1.5 L diesel unit. One more 1.5 L turbo petrol mill is on the cards as well. But what it misses out on is a hybrid powertrain, not even a mild hybrid let alone a strong one.

This is a miss as the Hyryder or the Maruti Grand Vitara offers petrol as well as a strong petrol hybrid unit. Honda Elevate which enters the market just recently offers a single petrol engine, but a strong hybrid unit is still rumoured to be in the works for launch at a later date.

2. Exceptional Fuel Economy

The first point naturally leads us to our next point of omission. The strong hybrid setup's one of the main highlight point is the superb fuel economy.

The Seltos mileage numbers dwindle between the 16 to 21 km per litre range, however, the real-world figures depend on a lot of different factors. Still, the strong hybrid unit of the Grand Vitara/ Hyryder claims a big number of 27.97 km per litre, which is a big leap from the 21 kmpl mark.

3. AWD On The Global Variants, But Indian Units?

Kia Seltos 2023 was launched globally back in April, and there it was available in an AWD version as well. But will that same variant come to India? This is still a mystery and no clear roadmap is visible at the moment. The Grand Vitara, on the other hand, comes with the Suzuki's advanced AllGrip AWD tech that helps it in tackling the off roads more confidently.

If Kia ultimately skips the AWD tech in India, the Grand Vitara/ Hyryder will have a clear edge over the compact SUV.

VERDICT- There is no perfect thing in this world, and the same stands true for the Kia Seltos facelift as well. When compared to the Grand Vitara, it still misses out on a few things even after being loaded with tech. However, the AWD is still something that the Korean carmaker can use to close this gap.
