For the first time, the upcoming Citroen C3X crossover sedan has been spied on test in India. This sedan will feature a unique design which will be a mix of a crossover. Citroen C3X Crossover Sedan - What Is It?
The C3X is going to be a mix of a sedan and SUV altogether. While this concept is completely unique to India, the C3X already is sold globally. Spied for the first time, the test mule indicates that the car is in its early stage of development. Perhaps, there will be a long time before we get to see a production-ready test car. Meanwhile, the front and rear are completely covered; thus the unique slanting roof design isn't visible. However, the side profile features some shared parts with the upcoming C3 Aircross. The doors and the ORVMs seem similar to the upcoming MPV.
The spy shots also include a glimpse of the dashboard. While the majority of it isn't visible, the dash aircon vent design is similar to the C3. We suspect that it'll carry forward many similar design elements from the present lineup of models. Additionally, it'll be based on the CMP architecture as seen on the current Citroen cars. Therefore, the possibility of Citroen using the same powertrain as on the C3 is more. If so, the C3X will get a 1.2-lt turbo-petrol engine. While there is no crossover in this segment, the only comparison of it'll be with the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, & Hyundai Verna.
Verdict
The C3X crossover sedan will be a completely niche product. Due to its radical design, the space management on the inside will be tough to do. But, Citroen seems to have undergone an attack mode. With products lined up one after other, Citroen India has serious plans. If we anticipate, the C3X shall take at least 6 moths or more before it debuts in India. Also, it'll be priced aggressively and we expect its starting price to be around Rs 9 lakh.
