However, the new Creta made its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo and got launched at Rs 9.99 lakh afterwards. Knowing that both the mid-size SUVs share the same platform, Kia Seltos edges over the 2020 Creta over dimensions. The former is 15 mm longer, 10 mm wider and about 15 mm taller than the new entrant. However, the space inside the cabin is similar as both the SUVs gets a similar wheelbase of 2610 mm. However, the new Creta feels roomier on the inside as per the first hand experience we had before the lockdown. And the boot carrying capacity and fuel tank for both sticks to 433L and 50L respectively. Both the SUVs also get the same tyre size that is 205/65 R16 but the design for both are different.

The 2020 Hyundai Creta gets ahead of Seltos HTE by offering the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System right from base trim EX. The same feature is seen on higher trims of Seltos. Hyundai also gives turn indicators on ORVMs, a rear spoiler, shark fin antenna on the Creta, the features which the Seltos lacks. Both SUVs gets projector headlight setup but lack LED DRLs for the lower trims.

The interiors of the 2020 Creta gives a premium look by offering a dual-tone black and beige scheme while the Seltos is given with an all-black interior. The 2020 Creta also excels itself by providing a 20. 32 cm infotainment touchscreen system. It also provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as opposed to just a 2-DIN integrated system found in Kia Seltos with Bluetooth connectivity.

Both the SUVs offer manual HVAC Function and comes with rear AC vents. An adjustable tilt steering wheel and steering wheel control are some of the features that are common with both the SUVs. The Creta also gets sunglass holder and cooled glove box as some of the additional features.

Hyundai Creta borrowed all the engines from the Seltos - that is two petrol and one diesel. In this comparison, we have the BS6 compliant 1.5L petrol engine. It churns out 113 bhp with 144 Nm of peak torque and the engine gets mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The only difference is in the ARAI certified fuel economy as the 2020 Creta delivers 16.8 km/l while the Seltos is rated at 16.5 km/l.

Verdict
Hyundai Creta has been in the market long before the Seltos stepped in and ruled this segment. And once again, the SUV is up at Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and offers more features than the base trim of Seltos. For those keeping a tight budget of Rs 10 lakh under but do want a good mid-size petrol SUV then 2020 Creta EX trim makes a perfect choice.
