2023 Hyundai Kona Specs Reveales A Range Of 490 Kms- India Launch?

Back in 2022 December, Hyundai took the wraps off its electric SUV, the Hyundai Kona 2023. It is the second generation of its ground-up built Electric SUV. What made it interesting is the approach that the company followed. It was made as an electric first and would then be evolved into the ICE ( Internal Combustion Engine) variant. This method makes it more suitable for an electric vehicle as it is specifically optimized for the emission-free powertrain.

Back then, only the interior and exterior were glimpsed out, but now the specs reveal much greater info. It might be a way to increase the hype for its global debut soon. Let's get into the details.

Hyundai Kona 2023 Specs: Promises A Range Of 490 Km

After revealing the cosmetics earlier, its specs are now out. The new Hyundai Kona 2023 promises to deliver a range of 490 km, courtesy of the bigger 65.4 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor of 215hp and 255Nm of peak torque. There is also a standard battery back of 48.4kWh battery that powers an electric motor that produces 153hp and 250Nm torque.

The real-world range could be somewhat lower than the announced figures as this depends on a lot of external factors. The range for the standard variant, Interestingly, has not been revealed. The new Kona electric comes capable of one-pedal driving with its regenerative braking system and, just like the newly launched Ioniq 5, is also capable of a vehicle-to-load feature, which means you can power external devices using the cars battery. Exterior Styling And Interior

With the SUV stance and futuristic exterior styling, the images were released by the company earlier. The interior is being called the Living Space concept and is a techy take on the cabin space. It's 150mm longer than the outgoing Kona (at 4,355mm), 25mm wider and has a 60mm longer wheelbase. This increase in dimensions provides maximized living space in the reworked cabin. It hosts a similar wraparound digital driver display like the Ioniq 5, which are dual 12.3-inch displays. These screens have been coupled with physical buttons for climate control and heated seats are there to comfort you as well.

New Gen Hyundai Kona Features

It goes without saying that when it's a Hyundai, you will be getting tons of tech and gizmos inside. Look at the newly launched facelifted Grand i10 NIOS. Even the entry-level hatch was brimmed to its optimum. This being one of the flagship products in the electric powertrains, doesn't disappoint either.

The features on offer are keyless entry, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, a powered tailgate, a heads-up display, over-the-air updates, and connected car tech. It sports ADAS functionality as well. The suite of ADAS functions includes lane-keeping assist, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, intelligent speed limit assist, driver attention warning, high beam assist, forward collision-avoidance assist, and more. All in all, this is a feature-rich electric mover.

VERDICT- The first-gen Hyundai Kona is still actively selling on the official website. The second gen is a very nifty and observable upgrade. Plus, it also defies the ICE to EV transition that was prevalent earlier. This is first developed for the Electric version and then moves on to the ICE Variant.
