1. Feature Upgrades

The updated 2025 BYD Seal gets a host of interior upgrades, including a power sunshade, a silver-plated dimming canopy, and a revamped AC system featuring a larger compressor for faster cooling, along with an air purifier for better cabin air quality. On the tech front, the EV now comes standard with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, making smartphone connectivity more seamless than ever.

2. Better Suspension

The Performance variant of the BYD Seal debuts the advanced Disus-C intelligent damping system, which fine-tunes suspension stiffness in real time to strike a balance between comfort and control. Processing thousands of inputs per second softens the ride over rough surfaces and firms up the suspension during hard cornering, braking, or acceleration to improve handling. Meanwhile, the Premium variant now also benefits from Frequency Selective Dampers (FSD), a feature previously exclusive to the Performance trim. These dampers adapt to varying road conditions to offer a smoother, more composed driving experience, adding greater value and refinement to the Premium model.

3. Range & Specs

The BYD Seal is available with two battery pack options: a 61.44 kWh unit in the Dynamic variant, producing 203 PS and 310 Nm, with power sent to the rear wheels; and a larger 82.56 kWh pack offered in the Premium and Performance variants. The Premium RWD delivers 312 PS and 360 Nm, while the Performance AWD variant offers the same power output with all-wheel drive capability. As per NEDC figures, the Dynamic variant offers a claimed range of 510 km, the Premium goes up to 650 km, and the Performance variant delivers a range of 580 km on a single charge.

4. New Auxiliary Battery

The BYD Seal is equipped with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) low-voltage battery (LVB), which offers notable advantages such as being six times lighter than traditional low-voltage batteries, consuming five times less power through self-discharge, and boasting a long lifespan of up to 15 years.

5. Pricier Than Before And Rivals In Sight

The BYD Seal is offered in three variants - Dynamic RWD (61.44 kWh), Premium RWD (82.56 kWh), and Performance AWD (82.56 kWh), priced at Rs 41 lakh, Rs 45.55 lakh, and Rs 53 lakh respectively (ex-showroom). With the recent update, the mid and top-spec variants see a price hike of Rs 15,000. As BYD's flagship model in India, the Seal goes up against rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and BMW iX1 in the premium electric car segment.

Verdict

With the path almost clear for a smooth entry of Tesla in the Indian space, BYD is feeling the heat already and is making sure to plant its feet deeper in the Indian electric segement and the updates are a part of the continuous efforts of the brand. No doubt that it does offer a premium experience but with the brand name and the hype of Tesla, it needs a lot more than just a good enough package.
