Tata Altroz Facelift: Long-Awaited Update

Tata Motors is gearing up to unveil the facelifted Tata Altroz on May 21, 2025, bringing a host of visual and feature upgrades to the premium hatchback since its debut in 2020. The updated model will sport a redesigned front with sleeker LED headlamps, a revised grille, and new fog lamp positioning, while the rear will feature connected LED taillamps and a reworked bumper. Flush-type door handles will debut on the front doors, while the rear retains the C-pillar-mounted design. Inside, it's expected to offer a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a two-spoke illuminated steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and more, with six airbags likely to be standard across variants. The powertrain options will remain unchanged, continuing with the 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines, paired with manual and DCT gearboxes, along with a CNG variant. With these enhancements, the Altroz will elevate its competitive advantage against rivals like the Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno, and Toyota Glanza.

MG Windsor EV- Longer Range, More Features

Kia Clavis

The 2025 MG Windsor EV is set to receive key upgrades, most notably a larger 50.6 kWh battery pack expected to deliver around 460 km of range, a significant jump from the current 38 kWh version with 331 km. This long-range variant, likely reserved for top trims, will be complemented by the addition of Level 2 ADAS features and Vehicle-to-Load functionality. While more updates may be revealed closer to launch, the Windsor already offers a premium experience with features like a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, dual-zone climate control, reclining rear seats, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, six airbags, and MG's i-Smart connected tech.

VW Golf GTI- The Performance Machine

Volkswagen Golf GTI

Volkswagen is playing the enthusiast game here, and after offering the Tiguan R-Line, which is a 2.0L 5-seater performance SUV, the VW Golf GTI is the next in line for May 2025 as a fully imported model. This iconic hot hatch will mark VW's second GTI-badged offering in the country after the limited-run Polo GTI. Under the hood, it packs a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 265 hp and 370Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox powering the front wheels. With its performance-focused character and sharp dynamics, the Golf GTI will carve out a niche of its own, especially with prices expected to hover around the Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.

Kia Clavis: A Premium Alternative To The Carens

Kia Clavis

Kia has officially confirmed that the heavily updated 2025 Carens, now named the Kia Clavis, will debut on May 8, 2025. Unlike a typical facelift, the Kia Clavis will sport a thoroughly revised exterior and interior while being sold alongside the current Carens. Teaser visuals hint at premium additions like a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, a panoramic sunroof, and ADAS features. Mechanically, the Kia Clavis is expected to retain the existing engine lineup, including the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel powertrains. Notably, it will be a premium alternative to the Kia Carens, just like how the Syros is placed as a more upmarket option to the Sonet.

Verdict

The current Indian car market scene is witnessing some really intersting choices from the likes of Windsor EV offering its Baas batteyr rental plans to the Volkswagen that is playing the perfromace game, something a bit niche that targets the higher price bracket. But rest assured, the all the debuts planned in May are pretty significant in their respective segments, that will have lasting impressions as we expect them to deliver.
