ASEAN NCAP Awards Honda City For Consistent 5-Star Safety Ratings

To mark and celebrate its tenth-anniversary, ASEAN NCAP announced its Decade Of Safer Vehicle Awards recently to recognise the vehicle safety achievements of car companies. The Honda City was awarded the Excellent Award for Consistent Five-star. The fifth-gen Honda City safety ratings stood at 5 stars and the previous two generations of the car too scored a perfect score of five in the year 2012 and 2014 respectively. The new Honda City takes on the rivals like the Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Ciaz in the Indian market and also faces stiff competition from the upcoming sedans from Skoda and Volkswagen.

Honda City Safety Ratings

ASEAN NCAP tested the new fifth-generation Honda City back in March 2020 and the car passed all the safety crash tests with flying colours. The Thai-spec iteration of the Honda City scored a five-star rating in the crash tests and scored a cumulative score of 86.54 out of 100 in side-impact tests and full frontal offset impact. The Thai-spec model is equipped with the G-FOrce control body structure that the brand calls G-CON. In addition to this, it also gets hill start assist, an anti-lock braking system, Electronic Brake Distribution, six airbags, emergency stop signal and multi-view camera in addition to standard vehicle stability assist.

ASEAN NCAP also honoured Honda with the Best Road Safety Partner Award.

Honda City Safety Ratings

The new Honda City was launched in India in 2020 and offers a premium and feature-rich cabin. In addition to this, the car also gets powerful and reliable engine options and can be had with both, manual as well as automatic transmission options. With a starting price of Rs. 11.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Honda City gives strong competition to the cars like the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid, Skoda Slavia and the upcoming new VW sedan. The car also offers a commendable in-cabin experience and impressive safety features and equipment list.
