Hyundai Exter Gets New Higher Spec Trim & Variants Rejig

Hyundai Exter has been a strong rival to the Tata Punch and while it hasn't been a treat on that scale, Exter is a pretty well-equipped car. Now, in a bid to fuel up its appeal even more, the brand has introduced a new higher-spec trim SX Tech at Rs. 8.51 lakhs and also added a few features to the existing variants. Hyundai Exter SX Tech: What It Brings And Where It Sits?

The new SX Tech variant of the Hyundai Exter sits below the SX(O) Connect and the SX trims and offers a value proposition at Rs. 8.51 lakhs ex-showroom. For the price, you get features like a Smart key with push button start/stop, a dashcam with dual camera, smart electric Sunroof, 20.32 cm (8") touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, fully automatic temperature control (FATC) with digital display, projector headlamps with bi-function, and many more. As for the engine option, you get the same 1.2L kappa pterol engine with both manual and automatic gearbox and a CNG manual as well.

S+ And S Variants Rejigged

Hyundai has significantly enhanced the value proposition of the mid-level S trim of the Exter by introducing four crucial safety features: hill start assist, electronic stability control, a rear camera, and vehicle stability management. Both the S and S+ trims now boast an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with stylish 15-inch dual-tone wheel covers. The 2025 Hyundai Exter S+ trim receives further enhancements, including a convenient sunroof and power-adjustable ORVMs. These upgrades come at a slight price increase, with the S and S+ trims experiencing a price hike of Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 13,000, respectively.

Hyundai has revised the Exter CNG model lineup. The base variant is now the S Executive, available with a single-cylinder CNG kit or an optional dual-cylinder kit for an additional Rs 8,000. Prices for the S Executive CNG have increased by Rs 4,000 compared to the previous S CNG and S Duo CNG variants. The top-spec variant is now the SX Tech, priced Rs 5,000 higher than the previous range-topping Exter CNG SX Dual Knight.

Engine Details

The Hyundai Exter is powered by a 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 83hp and 114 Nm of torque. This engine can be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT. For those seeking enhanced fuel efficiency, a CNG variant is available, delivering a lower 69 hp and 95.2 Nm of torque.
