Exclusive: Mahindra Launching BS6 XUV500 Automatic And AWD In July

When Mahindra launched the BS6 XUV500 a few weeks back, both automatic and AWD versions were missing from the line-up. Only the manual FWD or 4x2 XUV500 BS6 has been on sale till now. However, we have verified news that Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the BS6 compliant versions of XUV500 in automatic and AWD variants in July 2020. Also, according to our sources, the deliveries for the same will commence from mid-July and the SUV retains the 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. The vehicles are ready with production in progress - dispatch shall start soon in our opinion.

Both automatic and AWD versions of the BS6 Mahindra XUV500 will continue to churn 155 bhp with 360 Nm of peak torque. And the transmission will be taken care of by a 6-speed automatic unit. Currently, Mahindra sells the BS6 XUV500 in four trims namely W5, W7, W9 and W11(O). The automatic trims are expected to come with the latter three ones while the AWD is expected to stick with W9 and W11(O) only. Currently, the XUV500 starts from Rs 13.27 lakh and the top model fetches till Rs 17.78 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

Feature-wise, the XUV500 will continue with projector headlights, electric sunroof, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with modern connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets voice command. The XUV500 also gets powered driver's seat, leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control and among other features.

Safety features on the XUV500 include ABS with EBD and ESP, Six airbags, Tyre pressure monitoring system, Rear parking sensors, Hill hold control, Traction control, Hill descent control, front seat belt reminder and high-speed alert system.

Mahindra will provide the XUV500 automatic and AWD in seven colour options - Lake side brown, Volcano black, Mystic copper, Pearl white, Moondust silver, Crimson red and Opulent purple. It comes with a standard 3 years or 1 lakh km warranty package.
