Maruti eVitara Is Now Maruti eEscudo- Latest Spy Shots Leaks

The SUV was initially showcased as the eVX concept and later widely referred to as eVitara during testing phases in India and abroad. However, new spy images from latest spy shots clearly show the "eEscudo" badge on the production-ready model. This clears the air about the September 3 launch that now states that the eVitara and the eEscudo are the same models. The eEscudo's styling blends futuristic touches with traditional SUV proportions. It features Y-shaped LED DRLs integrated into the headlamp cluster, extended LED tail lamps connected by a gloss-black strip, and an aggressively sculpted bumper. Square wheel arches with heavy body cladding, dual-tone aerodynamic alloys, and subtle C-pillar-integrated rear door handles add to its modern yet rugged appeal.

Inside, the eEscudo is expected to bring Maruti's most advanced cabin yet. The SUV is likely to feature a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, front ventilated seats, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and premium Harman audio. Comfort is complemented by 10-way power adjustment for the driver's seat and wireless smartphone charging. Safety will also be a strong highlight, with seven airbags, 360-degree cameras, tyre pressure monitoring, and Level 2 ADAS including lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

Maruti Suzuki will offer the eEscudo with two battery pack options sourced from BYD: a 49 kWh pack and a 61 kWh pack, both using LFP chemistry. The smaller pack will likely offer around 400 km range in 2WD configuration, while the larger pack could stretch to 500 km and will be available in both 2WD and AWD setups. Power outputs are expected to range from 142 bhp in the base variant to 181 bhp in the dual-motor AWD version, with torque figures up to 300 Nm.
Maruti has already issued media invites for a September 3, 2025 event, initially assumed to be for the eVitara. With the emergence of the eEscudo nameplate, this could mark the SUV's official debut instead. Pricing details remain under wraps, but Maruti is expected to position it aggressively against rivals like the Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV.
Verdict
The eEscudo signals Maruti Suzuki's bold move into premium electric mobility. With its global-ready design, long-range battery options, and segment-first ADAS tech, it could be the brand's most sophisticated offering yet. The key challenge, however, will be pricing ,balancing Maruti's value-driven image with the premium expectations of an EV SUV. If they get this right, the eEscudo could quickly become a strong contender in India's fast-growing electric SUV market.
