Maruti Swift 2024 Scores 4 Star In Crash Test Rating, But...!

Maruti Swift 2024 is soon going to debut in India. The hatchback has already made its debut internationally. Maruti Swift 2024: Will India Get the Same Safety Rating Car?

The new Swift that managed to score a 4-star crash test rating was equipped with top-notch safety features like ADAS. As per the data revealed by NVASA, the agency handling the Japan NCAP, the new Swift scored 177.8 points out of 197 in the crash tests. With such good results, Indian customers are now hopeful that the upcoming-gen of Swift in India will also get similar safety features. But, there is a slight twist in the story.

The Japanese domestic market has made stringent safety laws for passenger cars. Hence, features like 6-airbags and sturdy build quality are ensured by every manufacturer. With the ADAS equipment, the new Swift has become a safer car than the outgoing model. However, the Indian model might not get ADAS features. What we can expect, is that the body shell strength would be higher than the outgoing generation.

The current scenario among the new car buyers in India has shifted the focus towards safety. Therefore, Maruti must upgrade the strength and features of the new Swift to keep it off the backlash. We suspect that the new Swift will get modern features like HUD, 6-airbags, and more. Therefore, the possibility of it scoring a good rating in the Bharat NCAP tests.

Swift 2024: Engine, Price, Launch Date, and Rivals

Globally, Suzuki has introduced a new mild-hybrid 1.2-lt petrol engine with the fourth-gen Swift. It is a more refined and better fuel-efficient motor than the outgoing model. While we can not deny that it will not come to India, perhaps there are chances that Maruti might ditch the new engine on the updated Swift. It is because Maruti has plans to introduce a strong-hybrid Swift in India by 2027. If the new engine is offered on it, the new Swift will get options of a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

With the latest features like HUD, a bigger infotainment screen, and more connected apps, the new Swift will be positioned higher than the current model. Suzuki will also offer the CNG iterations of the new Swift in the coming months. We suspect that it'll be priced between Rs 6.5-10 lakh (ex-showroom). The primary rivals of the new model will be the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS and Tata Tiago.
