Renault Kiger Facelift: Subtle But Significant Design Tweaks

The updated Renault Kiger has been a frequent sight on Indian roads during its testing phase, and now, a teaser from the company offers the first official glimpse. As expected, the changes are more about refinement than a complete redesign, building on the Kiger's existing modern aesthetic. Externally, the Kiger facelift will sport some tasteful revisions. The front fascia is likely to feature a new bumper and a refreshed grille, all centered around Renault's new, more modern brand logo. The teaser also hints at updated C-shaped LED taillamps with new internal elements and the introduction of a new, lighter shade of green paint, adding a fresh visual dimension to the lineup.

Inside the cabin, drivers and passengers can expect a few welcome changes as well. While the overall layout is likely to remain familiar, the updated Kiger is expected to feature new materials and color schemes to enhance the premium feel. The feature list is also anticipated to grow, with a freestanding 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a digital instrument cluster among the key highlights.
Unchanged but Proven Powertrain
Under the hood, the new Kiger will stick with its current, proven engine options. It will continue to be powered by the choice of a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine or a more powerful 1.0-liter turbo petrol unit. Both engines come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the naturally aspirated version offers a 5-speed AMT and the turbo-petrol gets a CVT. There is also a strong possibility that Renault will introduce a CNG version, similar to its Triber counterpart, to cater to the growing demand for alternative fuel options.

The current prices of the Renault Kiger start at Rs. 6.15 lakhs and go all the way up to Rs. 11.23 lakhs ex-showroom. With the updates in sight, the pricing is expected to rise by a small margin, and it will continue to battle other SUVs in the class like the Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch, Maruti Fronx/Toyota Taisor, and others
Verdict
The refreshed Kiger, with its blend of updated aesthetics, new features, and a reliable powertrain, aims to be a more attractive package in a highly competitive market. With a slight premium expected over the current model's starting price, the Kiger facelift is ready to make its renewed pitch to Indian buyers.
