Tata Altroz Racer is the next launch from Tata Motors which is now slated for launch on June 7. Tata Altroz Racer Launch On June 7; i20 N-Line Rival

While the Tata Altroz Racer was already showcased at the Auto Expo and the Bharat Mobility Show, the official launch and price reveal are set for June 7, 2024. Ahead of this, the brochure leak has already confirmed the variants and features on offer, with some segment-first features as well. It directly rivals the Hyundai i20 N-Line in this niche segment.

Distributed among three variants, R1, R2, and R3, the Altroz Racer presents a major and luxurious upgrade from the standard Altroz. Setting a new benchmark, the R1 variant dwarfs the top XZ+ trim of the standard model with additional features like four extra airbags, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a more assertive exhaust system. Stepping into the mid-range R2 variant, drivers are treated to a refined assortment of amenities, including a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a powered sunroof, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, and a blind spot monitor for enhanced safety.

The R3 variant raises the bar further by introducing Tata's connected car technology, ventilated front seats, and an air purifier, ensuring elevated comfort and convenience. Remarkably, the Altroz Racer takes the lead with exclusive offerings like cooled seats and a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, setting new industry standards.

Engine Details

The Altroz Racer emerges as the most powerful version of the Altroz yet, surpassing even the iTurbo variants of the standard model. The 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine delivers 120hp of power and a peak torque of 170 Nm. You have a choice between a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCA, borrowed from the Nexon lineup. However, the iTurbo variants will be axed soon with this launch.

While we expect the price to be somewhere around Rs. 10 lakhs, it does not have a lot of competitors, courtesy of its niche segment. It will face off against the Hyundai i20 N-Line and select variants of the Maruti Fronx 1.0L Boosterjet variants.

Before its official launch, don't forget to check out our walkaround video of this performance hatchback that was revealed at the Auto Expo last year.

Verdict

The Altroz Racer is set to establish itself as a respected member in enthusiast circles, boasting an impressive array of features. Although this niche segment has limited competitors, the market is gradually attracting more buyers willing to prioritize performance over economy. However, it will face stiff competition from the i20 N-line, the hot hatch that already has a loyal fanbase.
