With an expected starting price of around INR 5 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tata Punch will not only rival the cars like the Maruti Ignis, and the Mahindra KUV100, but will also lock its horns with the Tata Tiago NRG. Tata Punch Vs Tiago NRG Design and Dimensions Comparison

Tata Punch Vs Tata Tiago NRG

While the Tata Tiago NRG looks more like a beefed-up hatchback, the Tata Punch on the other hand gets an SUV-like styling. The big and bulky bumper along with a high-set hood gives it a strong and imposing front fascia while the bumper-mounted headlamps and LED DRLs do remind us of the Harrier. Move to the sides and you will notice the large R-16 dual cut alloy wheels which look extremely attractive while the body cladding too is very prominent across the car.

The rear however looks a little too subtle and may not be liked by everyone but in all, the Tata Punch definitely looks very good and much better than its rivals. In addition to this, the car gets an unladed ground clearance of 187 mm while it also boasts an approach and departure angle of 23 degrees and 37.6 degrees respectively. All this, along with a width of 1945 mm, helps the Tata Punch not only look great but also offer commendable capabilities.

The Tata Tiago NRG on the other hand gets a busier styling at the front with a prominent faux-skid plate at the front and a bulky bumper. The car also gets plastic body cladding that gives it a more rugged look. When compared to the Punch, the Tiago NRG also gets a lower ground clearance and steel alloys. In addition to this, the Tiago NRG also misses out on projector headlamps and LED DRLs. Similar design language can be seen at the rear and the design does lack that elegant look.

The cabin of the Tata Punch boasts a modern and attractive layout with a floating island infotainment system. The dual-tone colour scheme along with body colour highlights on the AC vents look pleasing to the eyes and the subtle styling should attract a number of buyers. The rear seat also boasts an armrest along with a flat floor and rear charging sockets. The high, SUV-like seating not only improves visibility but also makes it extremely easy to move in and out of the vehicle. The doors too open at 90 degrees to offer a wider aperture. In all, the cabin of the Tata Punch looks fresh and modern, hence giving its rivals strong competition.

The seats on the other hand are comfortable and there is ample space at the front as well as the rear. The visibility from the cabin is decent and there are no major blind spots. The all-black cabin looks premium and the gloss black finish on the trims does make it look extremely stylish and appealing.

Final Verdict

The Tata Punch is not only a well built and good looking car but in addition to this, also offers an extremely capable powertrain, a practical cabin, and a VFM package. The Tiago NRG on the other hand tries to offer added practicality and capabilities that were missing in the standard Tiago but will definitely struggle to impress the buyers when compared with the Punch. While a more decisive verdict can only be given after Tata announces the prices of the Punch, but for now, the Tiago NRG definitely seems to be losing the game when pitted against its new sibling.
