Upcoming Tata Altroz Turbo Petrol New Details Revealed; Launch Soon!

It has been in news since a really long time that Tata Motors is working on the Turbo Petrol model of the Tata Altroz. The Altroz is the first Premium Hatchback from the house of this Indian carmaker and it was launched in January this year. Now, the company is planning to soon launch the Turbo Petrol model of this premium hatch and so we have got some more details for you about this upcoming Tata Altroz Turbo Petrol.

The main question arises why a turbocharged petrol engine? So, at present, the Tata Altroz gets a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged Revotorq diesel engine. This oil-burner churns out 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Then we have a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine. This NA petrol motor churns out 86 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. It is also paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no automatic transmission on offer.

The Altroz truly needs a turbocharged petrol engine as the three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol motor of the Altroz feels a bit underwhelming, considering it is a premium hatch and the rivals have better powertrains. The Altroz is a great car inside and out but the powertrain fails to lure the buyers. So, to make it a more appealing overall package, the company will plonk in a turbocharged petrol engine in the Altroz. Now, fresh details from CarDekho have emerged confirming its specifications. Also, Tata Motors has already registered the upcoming Tata Altroz Turbo Petrol with the RTO.

The new Altroz Turbo will get a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It will get the same engine that powers the Tata Nexon but in a lower state of tune. This 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor will churn out 110 PS of power at 5500 RPM and 141 Nm of peak torque between 1750-4000 RPM. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and it will get a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) too. Tata's new DCT will offer good fuel-efficiency and will be more refined and smooth-shifting than the existing AMTs out there in the market.

Recently, the price of the Diesel variants of the Altroz were slashed by up to 40,000 thousand rupees. So currently, the Tata Altroz is available in five variants - XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ (O) with prices ranging between Rs. 5.29 lakhs - Rs. 9.09 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi.
