Indian Army To Use Electric Cars, Electric Bikes & Buses In Fleet

Indian Army will soon be procuring electric vehicles in its selected units. As per the officials, electric cars, bikes, & buses will be procured shortly.

In an attempt to reach carbon neutrality in the nation, the Indian Army has taken a radical step. The Indian Army is soon going to introduce EVs in its fleet. Yes, the procurement of different EVs will begin soon and shall take place in a time-bound manner. The procurement drive will consider the area and the uniqueness of the usage pattern required on the field.

Indian Army EV Shift Details

As per the official statement, about 25 percent of light vehicles, 38 percent of buses & 48 percent of bikes shall be replaced via EVs. Additionally, the procurement assets shall be recruited in the selected units. These units have been studied for their usage pattern and the EV delicacy has been considered as well. According to the officials, the procured vehicles shall solve the purpose profoundly on the field as anticipated. This EV procurement is going to take place in a time-bound manner.

The use of EVs by the Army will provoke civilians to consider buying them.

As per the officials, the various deciding factors like the remote locations, extreme weather, and operational commitments were considered before this decision was made. Hence, the fraternity found out that the EVs can be used in a subtle manner under the selected units. Cars like the Tata Nexon EV & Tiago EV are well-designed and tested to accomplish the required tasks of the defense. Hence, the procurement took place.

Additionally, to complete the existing shortage of buses, 60 EV buses are already ordered. These buses will be charged via the 24 fast chargers that have been ordered along with. Also, the EV ecosystem requires an ample amount of charging stations. Hence, to accomplish it, infrastructure will be developed soon in a time-bound manner as well. Also, the officials claimed that these fast-charging stations will have at least one fast charger and 2-3 slow chargers.

The use of EVs is the future of automobiles and it can not be denied. The Indian EV sector is slowly blooming with courage and confidence. The new products are well designed to complete the daily tasks as required. Hence, the decision to use the EVs in Army will not only reduce carbon emissions but will also encourage civilians to consider buying EVs.
