Earlier this month, the spotlight was on the near-production-ready version of the upcoming electric SUV at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show, where it shared the stage with the new Swift. This isn't the first time we've heard about this exciting addition to Maruti Suzuki's lineup. The buzz started back in January when the concept was revealed at the Auto Expo, creating quite a stir. The Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV had even been spotted undergoing tests in Poland earlier this year.

Maruti Suzuki EVX: What's In The Store?

The latest spy shots capture Maruti's upcoming electric SUV, the EVX, undergoing testing near its plant in Gurgaon, India. Staying true to its concept, the vehicle showcases a commanding front with distinctive L-shaped headlights, a concealed front grille, and stylish wrap-around tail lamps. Notably, rear door handles are situated on the C-pillars, accompanied by an integrated roof spoiler. The SUV exudes a sleek coupe-like stance, thanks to its gracefully tapering roofline towards the rear.

Underneath, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will ride on a platform derived from Toyota's 40PL electric skateboard architecture, known internally as 27PL. This cutting-edge foundation promises a robust and efficient structure for the electric SUV. In terms of dimensions, the eVX is expected to measure approximately 4,300mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,600mm in height, featuring a wheelbase of 2,700mm. These proportions highlight the SUV's well-balanced and spacious design.

Step inside the eVX, and you'll be greeted by a chic dashboard, featuring a sleek digital instrument console that appears to float, accompanied by a generously sized touchscreen infotainment panel. The two-spoke steering wheel, equipped with multifunctional controls, complements the scene alongside adjustable power seats, convenient power window switches, and horizontally placed AC vents. The atmosphere inside is further enhanced by ambient lighting.

But that's not all  the eVX comes packed with modern amenities, including a 360-degree camera, a rearview mirror that offers a broader perspective, and a rotary drive mode selector. And let's not forget about safety  the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) protection is a definite inclusion. As for the ride, picture the eVX gliding on stylish silver-finished multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Maruti Suzuki EVX: Powertrain, Price And Rivals!

The Maruti Suzuki eVX concept boasts a robust 60 kWh battery, delivering an impressive 550 km of driving range. However, in its final production form, it might sport a slightly smaller 48 kWh battery, offering a still commendable 400 km of real-world range.

This electric marvel is set to roll off the assembly line at Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat plant, ensuring competitive pricing thanks to a significant focus on local production. While the official pricing details are still under wraps, early estimates hint at a reasonable price tag ranging from Rs 18-21 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki's first electric vehicle, the eVX EV SUV, is set to compete with Hyundai's upcoming electric Creta and Seltos models. It's also in collaboration with Toyota for an electric SUV, expected to debut before the Toyota counterpart. Rivals in the electric SUV arena include Mahindra's XUV400 and Tata's Nexon EV MAX.
