Finally, Maruti Suzuki has introduced the CNG+AMT combination with Swift and Dzire, bringing the convenience of an automatic gearbox with a CNG powertrain. The Maruti Swift with this combination starts at Rs 7.92 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 8.53 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Dzire. These cars will compete with the Tata Tiago and Tigor, as these were the first cars in the Indian auto industry to feature this combination. More information below.
Maruti Swift CNG AMT
AMT, short for Automated Manual, starts at Rs 7.92 lakh (ex-showroom) in Maruti Swift, and the name of the variant is VXI CNG AGS. It continues for two more variants and ends at ZXI CNG AGS, which costs Rs 8.86 lakh (ex-showroom). The powertrain is similar - the 1.2L 3-cylinder Z-series engine that puts out 69.75 PS and 101.8 Nm of torque, and the claimed fuel efficiency is 35.34 km/kg, which is a little better than what the 5-speed manual offers, of 35.07 km/kg. Moreover, in the boot, you'll see a 55L CNG tank and a spare wheel, so there is minimal space left for luggage.

Maruti Dzire CNG AMT
On to the Dzire, which sells more, as it's a popular choice in passenger vehicle space as well as in fleet operations because of the extra space it provides and better looks. Maruti is charging a premium here, with the CNG AMT at a higher price tag of Rs 8.53 lakh (ex-showroom) and ending with the second trim at Rs 9.53 lakh (ex-showroom). Here are the extra features: 15-inch alloy wheels, a push-start button, LED headlamps with DRLs, and a reverse parking camera.
An important highlight here is that the claimed fuel efficiency of Dzire is more than Swift. Maruti Suzuki claims that the Dzire with CNG AMT has 36.47 km/kg of fuel efficiency, a 1 km/kg improvement over what the 5-speed manual offers. So, it's a win situation for customers, as they're saving more money on gas and getting a much more relaxed drive.
Lastly, even after a CNG tank and spare wheel, there is space left for luggage, all thanks to its sedan three-body style.

Maruti Suzuki launched the Swift, Dzire, and their new facelifted Baleno with CNG AMT, with the clear aim of providing more options to anyone who's looking to buy a CNG-powered vehicle. Tata, however, is leading the way. It was the first to offer an AMT with CNG, and with more cars available with this option, it is eating into Maruti's market share.
