Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol Automatic Real-World Fuel Economy Revealed

Ever since its launch, Maruti Vitara Brezza has always managed to secure the top position in sales. Well, sometimes the new rival like Hyundai Venue bags the position but then not for too long. The oil burner was a major advantage to the Brezza, however, that was discontinued ahead of BS6 emission norms. Maruti introduced the petrol version of the Vitara Brezza and today we will be sharing its real-world fuel economy of the automatic version.

The 1.5L petrol engine on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza churns out 103 bhp of power with a peak torque of 138 Nm mated to a 5-speed MT and an optional 4-speed automatic gearbox. The claimed ARAI fuel efficiency of the automatic engine is 18.76 km/l.

Here in our fuel economy run of 230 km on the WPE (Western Peripheral Expressway). The technique used here was to fill the petrol till full until the auto cut ticks off and we maintained the tyre pressure. Also, the AC control was set to 22 degrees and we maintained the speed to 90 km/h.

The fuel economy we achieved was 17.53 km/l which is quite good for a car with a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Had it been a 5-speed or more then there would be a slight increase in the economy because of the low level of rpms.

The highest we achieved was 18.2 km/l between the 50-100 km mark because of the gravity but then because of the toll booths and the mild highway traffic, the exact figure came out to be 17.53 km/l. Please note, we used the same petrol pump and the exact same nozzle to fuel up the SUV again once we finished the economy run.
