Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Details

The Land Cruiser FJ, not surprisingly, bears resemblance to the Compact Cruiser concept shown back in 2022. However, while the Concept Cruiser was slated to be an EV, the Land Cruiser FJ thankfully comes with a 2.7-litre petrol engine, which we will dive into in sometime. Design-wise, this FJ carries forward the typical Land Cruiser DNA in the sense that it retains the boxiness of its bigger brothers. That said, it also makes use of modern elements, giving it a butch, almost neo-retro appearance, especially on the versions with round headlights.

What's even more interesting are the bumpers. Toyota says that the corner sections of the front and rear bumpers are removable, thus making it perfect for those who go off-roading frequently, as it allows them to replace only the damaged parts of the car. Additionally, it also allows buyers to customize the car according to their needs.

Sharing its platform with the Hilux, the Land Cruiser FJ measures 4575mm in length, which should make it fairly easy to drive, while also offering enough space for daily urban usage. It makes use of a 2.7-litre petrol engine, which produces 160.9bhp and 246Nm of torque and it is paired solely to a 6-speed automatic transmission. A part-time 4x4 system is also available, further reinforcing the fact this is a Land Cruiser, despite its smaller size.

On the inside, the interior layout and dashboard will remind you of the bigger Land Cruisers, with a low height to ensure better visibility for the driver and co-passenger. There is a digital cockpit and a large touch screen infotainment system on offer. Not much is being said about the features on offer, but safe to say it will get most modern things including an ADAS suite and wireless connectivity.
Verdict
Toyota has not explicitly commented on any plans to launch the Land Cruiser FJ in India. However, as it is set to go on sale globally in mid-2026, we can expect the car maker to evaluate its feasibility. Given how SUV-crazy we are, the Land Cruiser FJ might just click!
