Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG Coming Soon; Bookings Open Now And Gets Mileage Of 26.1 Km/kg

Toyota is all set to launch the Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG in a few months. The Japanese carmaker has confirmed the same and what's interesting is that they have also started taking the bookings for the same. One can book the Hyryder CNG at Rs 25,000 at any dealership across India.

Powering the Hyryder CNG will be the same 1.5-litre, mild-hybrid, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor. This is the same engine that does duty on the CNG variants of the recently launched, Maruti Ertiga and XL6. There it produces 87 bhp of power with a peak torque of 121.5 Nm.

We can expect similar output with the Hyryder CNG too, however, Toyota has not confirmed the figures yet. What they have confirmed is the mileage and that sticks to 26.1 km/kg. In addition to this, The Hyryder CNG will be available in two trims only - S and G.

When compared with the prices of strong hybrid, CNG still feels cheaper and is quite affordable if you're looking for long commutes. The S and G variants of Hyryder strong-hybrid are priced at Rs 15.11 lakh and Rs 17.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The ARAI-certified fuel economy of Hyryder strong hybrid sticks to 27.97 kmpl.

Verdict

Considering the low sales of diesel SUVs, a CNG mid-size SUV will surely be a popular choice among those who have long commutes. Also, if you're not looking to buy the strong hybrid version of the Hyryder, CNG will not only be cheaper to run but also the initial cost of ownership is a lot more affordable.
