Toyota has finally launched the rebadged Maruti Brezza a.k.a the Urban Cruiser and its prices start from Rs 8.40 lakh. Like the Brezza which gets four variants, the Urban Cruiser is available in three variants only - Mid, High and Premium and features both manual and automatic transmission.
When compared with the prices of Maruti Brezza, the Urban Cruiser from Toyota is a sensible buy as it offers more warranty and 24x7 roadside assistance than its sibling. The top-spec variant is priced at Rs 11.30 lakh and similarly, Brezza's ZXI+ Dual Tone AT is priced at Rs 11.41 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.

Under the hood, the Urban Cruiser packs in a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which makes as much as 103 bhp with a peak torque of 138 Nm. Transmission follows a 5-speed manual as standard while a 4-speed torque converter is an optional choice. The AT gearbox offers 18.76 km/l ARAI certified fuel economy.

Feature-wise, like the Brezza, the Urban Cruiser too gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Cruise control, rain sensing wipers, engine start/stop, automatic climate control are some of the features Urban Cruiser gets.

Design-wise, Toyota has done some changes to the exteriors and interiors. Both the grille and front bumper design are changed and so is the fog light housing. If you give a close look to the alloy wheels then they're also changed.

Like the exteriors, the interiors of the Urban Cruiser is also changed and now it gets dark brown shade on the seat upholstery. This colour gives the cabin an airy and a premium feel. The Urban Cruiser retains the dashboard and centre console layout like that of Vitara Brezza.
Safety features on this one include dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert system, front seat belt reminder and among others. It is available in both dual-tone and monotone colour options. It also gets a 3-year or 1 lakh warranty.

It is Toyota's second product after the Glanza in the Maruti-Toyota alliance. For the future, we will see similar rebadged products from Toyota based on Ertiga, S-Cross and even the Ciaz. Toyota's entry into sub-4-metre compact SUV with the Urban Cruiser takes on rivals like Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport.
