2022 Maruti Grand Vitara To Be Launched Later This September - Details

Maruti is all set to introduce the much-awaited, Grand Vitara in the Indian market by late September 2022. Once launched, the car will rival Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Nissan Kicks, Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun.

One of the interesting bits of the upcoming SUV is the availability of an AWD and the Hybrid engine that provides best-in-class fuel economy of 27.97 kmpl. No other SUV in this segment provides either of these.

Mechanically, the Grand Vitara will be available with two engine options - 1.5L mild hybrid and 1.5L strong hybrid. The latter is a three-cylinder engine which is paired with an electric motor. The useable peak power and torque stick to 114 bhp and 144 Nm, respectively. This motor delivers 27.97 kmpl mileage which is the highest in the segment. It gets paired with an e-CVT unit.

The other motor is the same 1.5L mild-hybrid as the one found in XL6. The four-cylinder, naturally aspirated motor generates 102 bhp of power with a peak torque of 136.8 Nm. This engine gets a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a six-speed torque converter automatic as an option. The AWD set-up is available as an option with the 5-speed stick shift.

Feature-wise, the new Grand Vitara gets a panoramic sunroof, 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, multi-function steering wheel, head-up display, ventilated cooled seats, auto IRVM, LED projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights and more.

Safety equipment on the SUV includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, 360-view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill descent control (AllGrip only), rear parking sensors, a high-speed alert system, front seat-belt reminder and more.
