Here Is Everything You Need To Know About The New EV Policy In Gujarat

The Government of Gujarat has announced a new electric vehicle (EV) policy that provides subsidy worth Rs.870 crore for EVs and their charging infrastructure.

India is now one of the big countries that have witnessed prosperity in EV technology and infrastructure which was once unimaginable. The country has kept a keen eye on the growing economy which has resulted in the transformation of mobility once and for all. Through extensive research and development, the country has found unique ways to set up this mobility solution without any backlash from its growing population.

Today, many are on the verge of letting go of their Internal combustion vehicles to promptly shift towards the new standards of lifestyle that the EV culture in India has created. Through extensive developmental strategies like implementing schemes and policies by state governments of the country has resulted in the large scale adoption of EVs.

One such state which decided to lean towards EV adoption is Gujarat which has now announced a new electric vehicle policy that provides subsidy worth Rs.870 crore for EVs and their charging infrastructure.

The latest EV policy was announced by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani. Under the new policy, a subsidy worth Rs.10000/kWh has been offered. It has been stated that EV customers will get a subsidy of Rs.20,000 for the purchase of electric two-wheelers, Rs.50,000 for electric three-wheelers and finally Rs.1.5 lakh for four-wheelers. The subsidy is said to be credited directly to the beneficiary's account via DBT.

Gujarat EV Policy

In addition to this, EVs registered under the RTO of Gujarat irrespective of the fact that the vehicle is private or commercial, will be exempted from any sort of registration fees and will get all the benefits under the FAME-II scheme.

The Chief Minister of Gujarat stated that the new EV policy is meant to promote the adoption of EVs which is believed to contribute to the creation of job opportunities in the EV sector. The Idea is to make Gujarat an EV production hub of the country, reduce the risk of pollution and introduce investors to the field of e-mobility.

He made a claim that within the time span of the next 4 years, Gujarat will have more than 2lakh EVs comprising of 1.1lakh of two-wheelers, 70,000 three-wheelers and finally 20,000 of 4 wheelers.

The Chief Minister added that the state government aims to add 250 more charging stations in addition to the existing limit of 278 charging stations and also that a capital subsidy of 25% will be set aside for the same.
