MG Cars Price Hike From Next Week Onwards

JSW MG Motor India has announced a price hike of up to 1.5% on select models, effective July 1, 2025. The mid-year revision comes as the automaker grapples with rising input costs and broader macroeconomic pressures currently impacting the automotive industry. According to the company, the price correction is aimed at partially offsetting increased manufacturing and supply chain expenses. This will be MG's second price revision in less than a year, following a 3% hike implemented in December 2024 ahead of the new calendar year, a move in line with industry trends at the time.

While MG has not yet disclosed which specific models will be affected, its current Indian lineup includes popular ICE models like the Astor, Hector, and Gloster, alongside three EVs, the Comet EV, ZS EV, and the newly launched Windsor EV. Interestingly, this announcement comes soon after a limited-period price reduction across all variants of the ZS EV, offered as part of MG's sixth anniversary celebrations in India, which saw a price cut of over Rs 6 lakhs

Upcoming MG Cars

The Windsor EV, which debuted earlier this year, marked a significant step for the brand as it introduced Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), a flexible ownership model aimed at reducing upfront EV costs. Looking ahead, MG is preparing to expand its EV portfolio in India with two new models on the horizon: the MG M9, an electric MPV, and the Cyberster, a two-door electric roadster. With this price hike and a growing electric lineup, the brand appears focused on balancing cost pressures while continuing its push into the evolving EV landscape.
Verdict
The price hike is somethinhg that automakers implement from time to time and since MG skipped the 2025 hike when a lot of other car manufacturers were getting their rates revised, this was a long time coming. Not to forget that Mercedes has already given a heads up for their next price hike of 2025 due in September. However, if you want to duck these updates, you can act quick and get one booked for yourself in June itself.
