Tata Sierra Entry-Level Trims To Get A Nat-Asp 1.5-litre Engine; Details
According to reports, Tata Motors has been developing a new 1.5-litre nat-asp petrol powertrain, specifically for the entry-level variants of the Sierra. Introducing a naturally aspirated petrol option could boost Tatas sales, as models equipped with this engine are likely to be priced more competitively.

This new engine is likely to be based on the upcoming direct-injection petrol unit, designed to offer a more fuel-efficient alternative to the turbocharged powertrains in Tatas lineup. The move makes sense, as turbo-petrol engines are known to be relatively thirstyparticularly when driven spiritedly or paired with automatic transmissions.
Looking at rivals like the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, much of their success can be attributed to the availability of non-turbo petrol variants, which tend to attract a larger share of buyers. Similarly, an entry-level Tata Sierra with a naturally aspirated petrol engine could finally give Tata a stronger position against the Hyundai Creta.

Some of the key features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, ADAS, and a triple-screen setup comprising the instrument cluster, the main infotainment display, and an additional screen for the co-driver. The light upholstery is going to lend it a premium feeling, and there will be many familiar bits from other Tata cars as well, such as the illuminated steering wheel.
Verdict
Tata hasnt traditionally been known for its petrol engines, but thats set to change with the introduction of its new 1.5-litre powertrains. The Sierra will debut these engines, and theyre likely to be introduced across select other models in Tatas lineup over time.
