Tata Sierra Spotted Emission Testing

The Tata Sierra has been recently spotted, fitted with emission monitoring equipment around its boot lid area, suggesting that the vehicle is nearing its final stages of production. Talking about the design, this Sierra is poles apart from the previous generation; however, it carries some design cues from the older generation, but with a completely new design language. The spyshots show a curvaceous boot lid, neatly fitted, sleek LED tailamps. A layered roof spoiler crowns the tailgate, while the expansive rear glass, bold roof rails, squared-off wheel arches and chunky B-pillars together give it that rugged-yet-premium stance. The large alloy wheels add the final touch of sportiness.

The 'SIERRA' badging stretches confidently across the tailgate, above a sturdy rear bumper that reinforces its SUV intent. Unlike the classic three-door layout from the 90s, this iteration adopts a more practical five-door design, clearly tailored for modern families.

What To Expect Inside?

While full interior details are still under wraps, the spyshots suggest that the new Sierra will boast modern features. It is expected to come equipped with a three-screen layout, the driver display, the infotainment and one for the co-passenger. Meanwhile, the interior is expected to be covered in a dual-tone theme along with ambient lighting and soft materials throughout.

Powertrains

Under the hood, the upcoming Sierra is expected to offer multiple engine choices. The lineup will likely include Tata's new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, and the familiar 2.0-litre diesel engine borrowed from the Harrier. An all-electric version is also in the pipeline, though details about its powertrain and range remain under wraps. Tata is expected to introduce the EV variant sometime after the internal-combustion models make their debut.

Verdict

The Tata Sierra's comeback feels like more than just a revival; it's a complete reinvention. With a balance of nostalgia, practicality, and future-ready tech, Tata seems set to turn one of its most iconic names into a modern-day lifestyle SUV.
