Tata Tiago.ev vs MG Comet EV - Price

Tata Motors hit the ball out of the park by launching the Tiago.ev with battery rental service, which is popular called - BaaS, at Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom), and charing 2.6 per km for battery EMI. Now, this directly hurts the Comet EV as it too comes with a BaaS - at Rs 4.99 lakh with EMI of Rs 3.20 per km.
Now, people who were going for MG will think twice as for less-price they are getting more car. Yes, both are primarily made for inter-city commutes, but the Tiago.ev have more space to offer, and in India customers want the maximum value for each penny they spend.

Now, let's compare the price of each of their variant:
| Variants | Tata Tiago.ev | Variants | MG Comet EV |
| BaaS | Rs 4.69 lakh + 2.6 per Km | BaaS | Rs 4.99 lakh + 3.20 per Km |
| Smart | Rs 6.99 lakh | Executive | Rs 7.62 lakh |
| Pure+ (19 kWh) | Rs 8.49 lakh | Excite | Rs 8.72 lakh |

| Creative+ | Rs 9.99 lakh | Exclusive | Rs 9.72 lakh |
| - | - | Exclusive FC | Rs 9.99 lakh |
| - | - | Blackstorm | Rs 9.99 lakh |
The difference here is obvious: Tata's variant lineup is simpler, more affordable, and offers two battery pack options. On the other hand, the MG Comet EV's variant lineup is longer, slightly more expensive, and comes with special colour schemes. However, it gets only one battery pack option, which is available with two charging setups - regular charging and fast charging. Now, onto the battery spec, range, and charing time.
Battery Spec, Range, & More
The real competition lies here, as battery specifications play the biggest role in an electric car-buying decision. For starters, the Tiago.ev offers two battery pack options - 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh.

On the other hand, the MG Comet EV comes with a standard 17.3 kWh battery pack, while the 17.4 kWh unit is offered only with the fast-charging variant. There is no difference in power output or claimed range between the two; the only distinction is the charging speed.

Meanwhile, the MG Comet EV remains a city-focused EV, where the fast-charging version mainly improves charging speed without changing the range or performance.

Verdict
After the Tiago.ev facelift, the MG Comet EV does not feel as attractive as before, as Tata is now offering a bigger, more practical, and better-equipped EV for less money. With stronger performance, better range options, and a lifetime battery warranty on the 24 kWh variants, the Tiago.ev feels like the more complete package overall.
That said, the Comet EV still has a unique charm with its ultra-compact size, effortless city drivability, and assured buyback program. It is ideal for buyers whose usage is limited mainly to crowded urban areas. However, for most buyers, the Tiago.ev now emerges as the more sensible all-round choice.
