Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift Spied Ahead Of Launch

Across the globe, the refreshed Hyundai Ioniq 5 is already making waves in various international markets, and India can anticipate its arrival later this year, likely around August or September. The keen eye will notice revisions at both the front and rear fascias, complemented by newly designed alloy wheels optimized for aerodynamics. The front air intake now boasts a wider stance. Moving to the rear, the bumper showcases a more sculpted aesthetic, and it appears the parking sensors have been repositioned. Enhancing aerodynamic efficiency is a 50 mm longer rear spoiler compared to the previous iteration.

A prominent change is the redesigned front bumper, now featuring a solid lip that amplifies the EV's sporty character. While the side profile was partially concealed during testing, the distinctive dual-tone, aero-cut alloy wheels are a probable addition. The rear bumper, although camouflaged this time around, will echo this design philosophy with a more muscular and sculpted appearance. Beyond these updates, the Ioniq 5 retains its signature boxy silhouette, along with the sleek LED headlights and the easily recognizable pixelated tail lamps that set this EV apart on the road.

How Long Can It Run On A Single Charge?

The India-spec Hyundai Ioniq 5 is equipped with a 72.6 kWh battery pack, delivering power to its electric motor. This setup generates a robust 216 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque, enabling strong performance. Notably, the Ioniq 5 boasts an impressive ARAI-certified range of 631 km on a single charge, highlighting its capability for long-distance travel with fewer stops for recharging. While the international model offers a bigger 84 kWh battery option for extended range, it's anticipated that the Indian version will likely continue with the 72.6 kWh pack.
While the launch will likely take place in September this year, it will continue to rival other premium EVs in the segment like the Kia EV6, BMW iX1, and others.
Verdict
The Ioniq 5 is a strong contendor in the premium EV space but with the BMW iX1, it puts it in a very tight spot. Given the competitive price point of the BMW rival, it is now getting its internationally active model here in the country, albeit without its bigger battery pack. The premium EV space is still not very significant and it will be intersting to see how this pans out where the German goes up against the South Koreanin the electric race.
