The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is a highly-awaited car for numerous buyers wanting to switch to an electric vehicle, and while it is yet to be launched here, the car maker has shown us its capabilities yet again. This time, the car has been crash-tested at the Euro NCAP, where it has performed impressively.

Maruti e Vitara At The Euro NCAP; Details

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara was tested in its left-hand-drive guise, and with the larger 61kWh battery pack option. The car has scored 77 percent in the adult occupancy safety tests, and 85 percent in the child occupancy safety tests. Additionally, the e Vitara has also scored 79 percent in the vulnerable road users test, and 72 percent in the safety assist test.

Protection to the front occupants has mostly been rated 'good', with the exception of 'adequate' and 'marginal' rating to the co-passenger and driver's chests respectively, scoring 12 out of 16 points in the frontal impact tests. With protection rated 'good' in the side impact and rear impact tests, the e Vitara also scored 13 out of 16 points and 3.9 out of 4 points in the respective categories.
In terms of child occupancy safety, the e Vitara has scored a full 16 points in frontal impact tests, and full 8 points in the side impact tests. These ratings are based specifically on 6-year old and 10-year old children.

The e Vitara is now being exported to other countries, and it is set to be launched here sometime soon, competing against the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE6, Tata Harrier EV, and the VinFast VF6.
Verdict
The e Vitara is quite big, as it is the first EV from the largest car maker in India. It remains to be seen how the audiences react to it, but it will certainly satistfy the needs of many EV buyers.
