The Hansalpur, Ahmedabad plant will also produce the e-Vitara for international markets, and from India, this BEV will be exported to European nations and Japan. Other details are that the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara is going to launch on September 3. So, it's fair to believe that the chip shortage issue has now been resolved, which, as per popular media beliefs, was the reason that kept this car away from production for so long.

Other than that, the e-Vitara has been spied testing countless times, and it has become a common norm to spot it on test runs in Delhi-NCR. Well, after a gap of around seven months, there is finally something substantial about this car to talk about.
Maruti e-Vitara will come with two lithium ion batteries - 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The first one puts out 144 PS and 189 Nm of torque, sending all power to the front wheels. While the 61 kWh will have a claimed range of 500 km, the power will be 174 PS and 189 Nm of torque. On top of that, there is another iteration of this 61 kWh pack that sends power to all four wheels - but India will not be the market for this, the officials at Maruti informed us during Auto Expo 2025. So, both the single-motor options make this car only FWD.

Lastly, the 61 kWh option will have an ARAI range of around 450 km.

Verdict
Maruti Suzuki is all set to begin production, and to make the event grand, the Prime Minister will flag it off. By now, we have seen several EV launches in the Rs 10 to Rs 25 lakh price bracket just this year, and unlike last year, the options have become plenty. It's definitely not crowded yet, but yes, Maruti Suzuki is a little late to the party. But hey, this brand will still generate the best sales numbers, no matter what.
